A tragic love story between a teenage boy and girl, who defy the odds and live happily in love with one another until fate takes its course and a lover dies. Going through all that tough stuff, becomes the defining moment in her life of who Hazel really is.While reading The Fault in Our Stars, I could not help but notice the parallel nature of the book and Romeo and Juliet. When Gus came along, it opened her eyes and he showed her a lot of amazing things. I think through this whole book she was searching for who she is as a person, and what she wants to do with her life. ![]() Hazel loses a little part of her when she goes through this situation. She has to figure out that she either can be strong or just give up on life. In the end of the book, Hazel goes through something that is really hard and probably shapes her as a person. It reveals you." (286) states another main theme. Like the quote, "Grief does not change you, Hazel. Haz el and Gus are the per fect examples of what love looks like in bad situations. T his shows that no matter how bad things can get love will conque r all. Hazel and Gus fall in love with each other despite the bad events happening to them. They both find a w ay to work around that and support each other. Ev en though, both of them fac e the daily struggle of their cancer. “You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I'm grateful." (260) Haz el is saying how gr ateful she is for all the time she has spent with Augustus. One of the main themes in The Fault in Our Stars is th at despite the struggle that Hazel and Gus face there love triumphs over it. ![]()
